Publication alert: Human Resource Management

By

Excited to share our new paper in Human Resource Management (HRM) that challenges conventional wisdom about employee disengagement. By examining quiet quitting through a multi-level lens, Paraskevas Vezyridis, Niki Glaveli and I, look into how this phenomenon emerges through complex interactions between societal changes, organisational practices, and individual responses.

The key insight? Quiet quitting isn’t simply about employee disengagement – it’s a sophisticated response to evolving workplace dynamics. As one participant powerfully stated:

“You pretend to pay me; I pretend to work.”

Our framework offers both theoretical foundations for researchers and practical solutions for organisations navigating these challenges. We specifically address how traditional workplace values interact with changing expectations around work-life boundaries and employee engagement.

Interested in transforming workplace dynamics or advancing this research agenda? We welcome connections with practitioners and scholars looking to build on these insights.
